about
Are you ready for a solid six-and-a-half minutes of kick butt, high energy, old school, funk rock?
An uplifting treat for your ears, mind and body, "Land of the Free" draws from the deep well of American soul, ignites and rolls relentlessly with the power of a freight train at full throttle. It features a powerhouse lead vocal, blues-rock piano, 5 strong horns, soulful backing vocals, percolating organ, driving funk bass and force-of-nature drums.
My description of the Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty image:
Lady Liberty has been bruised and battered for a couple of centuries by ideologues and politicians left, center and right - and Uncle Sam is pissed.
Unlike many productions where I sing and play everything, I had some musical cohorts join me on this one, wildly talented people who graciously added their own musical signature to the whole, for which they deserve sincere gratitude and deep appreciation. Major kudos and heartfelt thanks to one and all! Credits listed below.
As with my late boss, Frank Zappa, some of the lyrics and ideas might not work for you, but the bar will always be set uncompromisingly high in terms of musical quality.
Stay tuned, there's more in the works!
